How the shortlists are organized
There is no universal best monitoring platform. The guides group tools by use case—uptime, APM, RUM, website monitoring, observability and other operational needs—so the shortlist begins with the incident you need to detect or explain.
Use “best” as a hypothesis
A shortlist should end in a proof of concept. Test finalists against the same representative service, telemetry volume and failure scenario. Verify current vendor limits and pricing before purchase, and favor the product that shortens the important workflow with acceptable maintenance rather than the one with the longest feature list.
What “best” means here
“Best” means best fit for a stated scenario and constraint, not a permanent universal ranking. A focused uptime product and a broad observability platform can both be strong choices when they solve different operational problems.
